CYDECTIN S contains moxidectin, a member of the milbemycin/avermectin family. It is effective against sensitive strains of internal parasites.
Gastrointestinal parasites (adult and immature stages):
- Haemonchus contortus
- Ostertagia circumcincta
- Ostertagia trifurcata
- Trichostrongylus axei
- Trichostrongylus colubriformis
- Trichostrongylus vitrinus
- Nematodirus spathiger
- Nematodirus filicollis
- Cooperia curticei (Adult only)
- Cooperia oncophora (Adult only)
- Cooperia punctata (Adult only)
- Oesophagostomum venulosum (Adult only)
- Chabertia ovina
- Trichuris ovis (Adult only)
- Strongyloides papillosus (Adult only)
Inhibited (or hypobiotic) larvae of Haemonchus, Ostertagia and Trichostrongylus.
Lungworm (adult and immature):
- Dictyocaulus filaria
External parasites
- Psorergates ovis (itchmite)
PERSISTENT ACTIVITY
CYDECTIN S when used at the recommended dose rate prevents reinfection with Haemonchus contortus for 35 days and Ostertagia circumcincta for at least 21 days following a single oral dose.
CYDECTIN S is effective against nematodes with resistance to other anthelmintics (including benzimidazoles, levamisole and morantel). CYDECTIN S has also shown efficacy against a number of strains of Haemonchus contortus and Ostertagia spp that are resistant to the avermectins. However, as moxidectin shares a similar mechanism of action to the avermectins, it should not be used where avermectin resistance is present, except where specially recommended by an advisor.
-
Potent: CYDECTIN S contains the most potent macrocyclic lactone (ML) which has been shown to effective against strains of Haemonchus contortus and Ostertagia circumcincta resistant to ivermectin and abamectin.
Persistent Activity: CYDECTIN S prevents reinfection Haemonchus contortus for 35 daysand Ostertagia circumcincta for at least 21 days.
Short Meat Withholding period: 10 days.
Contains 0.5 mg/mL Selenium: Provides a supplemental source of selenium
Concurrent Treatments: CYDECTIN S is safe to use concurrently with other treatments in sheep including mineral supplements, fluke treatments and vaccines.
Safety: CYDECTIN S has been shown to be non-hazardous when used at the recommended dose rate and is readily accepted by sheep.

For animals over 80 kg use at a rate of 1 mL per 5 kg.
Do not underdose. A representative sample of animals should be weighed before treatment. Dose the mob to the heaviest sheep by liveweight in each group (ewes, wethers, rams, lambs). Where there is a large variation in size within the group, the dose rate should be based on the label directions for each weight range. Drafting into two or more lines may be appropriate to avoid excessive overdosing.
-
CYDECTIN S is not recommended for use in goats as safety and efficacy have not been evaluated.
Do not use at the same time as other selenised fertiliser, prill, or product without consulting a veterinarian.
Do not exceed the stated dose, or dose more frequently than 3-weekly.
