What Is infovet

Infovet is a unique information portal designed for New Zealand dairy vets to help their
dairy business clients.

With the farm owner’s permission, vets have secure access to information in Infovet from
the herd records, milk processor, animal health purchases in the vet clinic system and
vet-entered animal health records on farm.

The data is used to analyse and review farm performance and help farmers plan for the
coming season, helping improve both vet and farmer profitability.

WHAT DATA IS IN INFOVET?

Data is seamlessly extracted from existing databases

  • Infovet receives daily updates of herd record information from LIC and CRV.
  • Infovet receives daily milk processor data from Fonterra, Oceania Dairy, Open Country Dairy, Synlait Milk and Westland Milk Products.
  • Product purchasing data is received from the clinic system.
  • Animal health records are entered directly by the vet.

FEATURES & BENEFITS OF INFOVET

OFFLINE RECORDING

Infovet enables vets to quickly and accurately record herd health data both in clinic and out on farm using specialised recording modules. These modules can be utilised without the requirement for an internet connection, making Infovet an extremely useful tool in the cowshed and on farm. Infovet’s specialised recording modules allow easy data entry for the following activities:

  • Pregnancy testing
  • Body condition scoring – mob and individual cow
  • Non-cycling cow treatments
  • Tail scoring

ANALYSIS

The data which vets enter into Infovet is used in conjunction with other herd, production and product purchasing data to produce analyses including graphs, lists and spreadsheets. These in turn help the vet measure, review and analyse the farm’s performance in key dairy business areas, and assists in planning for a successful following season. Key areas for analysis are:

BENCHMARKING – MASTITIS AND REPRODUCTION

  • Infovet provides unique farm benchmarking analyses that compares a vet clinic’s farms against each other in the key herd health areas of reproduction and mastitis.
  • The ability to benchmark herd level reproduction and mastitis quickly and accurately is revolutionary for services in Infovet businesses, which have previously had to manually collate the data into time-consuming spreadsheets and communicate the results to their farmers. This is now achieved at the touch of a button in Infovet, saving precious clinical time, improving data accuracy and providing flexibility to view farms or groups of farms in a clear visual format.
  • The reports utilise standardised data extracted from each herds’ Fertility Focus Report and Mastitis Focus Report, which is provided to vets in Infovet via licensing from DairyNZ.
  • The benefits of local benchmarking are vast, not least of which it is shown to motivate farmers and affect change on farm as dairy clients see where they sit in relation to their peers, and what is achievable in their local area.
