  • For short-term protection and treatment of tetanus in horses, cattle, sheep, goats, pigs and dogs.

  • Neutralisation of tetanus neurotoxin in vivo.

  • Single-dose, disposable syringes in packs of 20 and in 10mL glass containers.

    • PREVENTION OF TETANUS: The dose of antitoxin for tetanus prophylaxis varies with animal species and is specified in the leaflet that accompanies the product.
    • For prevention of tetanus in all species, the injection is given subcutaneously.
    • COMBINED ACTIVE-PASSIVE IMMUNISATION: Simultaneous injection of Equivac TAT and Equivac T results in both immediate and lasting protection. Each product should be injected at a different site using a separate syringe and needle. The dose of Equivac T should be repeated 4 to 6 weeks later.
    • TREATMENT OF CLINICAL TETANUS: Antitoxin is less effective for the treatment of tetanus than it is for the prevention of this disease. It must be emphasised that treatment is more likely to be successful if the antitoxin is administered early in the course of the disease.
    • The recommended minimum dose for all species is 10,000–20,000 Units administered by slow intravenous injection.
    • Correct vaccination procedure is important.
    • Withholding times: Nil.
    • Store at 2–8°C (refrigerate; do not freeze). Protect from light.
