For vaccination of healthy dogs as an aid in preventing leptospirosis caused by Leptospira interrogans serotype copenhageni.

  • Approved uses/Indications

    A liquid vaccine containing an inactivated culture of Leptospira interrogansserotype icterohaemorrhagiae.

    Leptospira interrogans serovar icterohaemorrhagiae and copenhageni, although slightly different, are very close antigenically and the icterohaemorrhagiae serovar will stimulate active immunity in dogs against both L. interrogans serovar icterohaemorrhagiae and L. interrogans serovarcopenhageni.

    Leptoguard is only available for use under the authority or prescription of a veterinarian.

    • Leptoguard is prepared from a highly antigenic strain of Leptospira icterohaemorrhagiae which has been inactivated and processed to be non-toxic when administered to dogs.
    • Efficacious - Leptoguard gives full protection against L. copenhageni in dogs.
    • Well tolerated - in an extensive field trial involving six veterinarians and 1,277 dogs, minimal adverse reactions were reported1.
  • Packaging

    A liquid vaccine containing an inactivated culture of Leptospira interrogansserotype icterohaemorrhagiae.

    Packed as 25 x 1mL dose vials.

  • Dosage & Administration

    Shake product well. Administer 1mL dose intramuscularly or subcutaneously.

    Primary Vaccination: Administer 2 doses, 3–4 weeks apart.

    Revaccination: Healthy dogs should receive a single dose administered 12 months after completion of the primary vaccination course and an annual booster with 1 dose is recommended thereafter.

    Leptoguard can be used as the diluent for Vanguard® Plus 5 or Vanguard 5. Leptoguard cannot be mixed with Canvac® CCi in the same syringe.

    Store at 2-8ºC (Refrigerate). Do not freeze. Use entire contents once opened.

  • Precautions

    As with any vaccine, anaphylaxis may occur following use. In this event, an initial antidote of adrenaline is recommended and should be followed by appropriate supportive therapy.

    Avoid skin contact as this material may cause a mild allergic reaction in sensitive individuals.
