CYDECTIN INJECTION contains moxidectin, a member of the milbemycin/avermectin family.
CYDECTIN Injection is effective against sensitive strains of the following internal parasites:
Cattle:
Gastrointestinal parasites (adult and immature stages):
Lungworm (adult and immature):
Sucking Lice (all stages):
Biting Lice (all stages):
CYDECTIN Injection gives initial kill of larvae and adults at treatment but does not kill larvae hatching 2 to 3 weeks after treatment.
Mites (all stages):
Sheep:
Gastrointestinal parasites (adult and immature stages):
Inhibited (or hypobiotic) larvae of Haemonchus, Ostertagia and Trichostrongylus.
Lungworm (adult and immature):
Nasal bot
PERSISTENT ACTIVITY
Cattle:
CYDECTIN Injection, when used at the recommended dose rate, shows persistent activity preventing reinfection withOstertagia ostertagi or Dictyocaulus viviparus in cattle for 28 days following a single subcutaneous injection.
Sheep:
CYDECTIN Injection, when used at the recommended dose rate, prevents reinfection with Haemonchus contortus andOstertagia circumcincta for at least 35 days and Trichostrongylus colubriformis for at least 7 days following a single subcutaneous injection.
NON-IRRITANT: CYDECTIN Injection does not cause irritation at the injection site.
LOW VOLUME: CYDECTIN Injection is a low volume formulation that flows readily through 16 Gauge needles.
BROAD SPECTRUM: CYDECTIN Injection is efficacious against roundworms, lungworm, mites and lice which infect cattle and roundworms, lungworm and nasal bot in sheep.
PERSISTENT ACTIVITY: CYDECTIN Injection prevents reinfection with Ostertagia ostertagi and Dictyocaulus viviparus in cattle for 28 days and prevents reinfection with Haemonchus contortus and Ostertagia circumcincta for at least 35 days and Trichostrongylus colubriformis for at least 7 days in sheep.
SAFETY: CYDECTIN Injection can be used at the recommended dose rate in all breeds of cattle and sheep including pregnant females and breeding males.
CONCURRENT USE: CYDECTIN Injection can be used concurrently with other treatments including mineral supplements, fluke treatments and vaccines except footrot vaccine in sheep.
ENVIRONMENTAL SAFETY: CYDECTIN Injection has no significant adverse effect on flies or dung beetles exposed to faeces from treated animals.
CYDECTIN Injection comes ready to use as a clear sterile solution containing 10 mg/mL moxidectin. Available in 500mL flexipacks. Designed for use with automatic injection equipment and includes a draw off assembly
By law the user must take due care, obtaining expert advice when necessary, to avoid unnecessary pain and distress when using the product other than as directed on the label.
CYDECTIN Injection should be administered subcutaneously in the anterior half of the neck. Check accuracy of injectors regularly. Correct drenching technique should be used. Check accuracy of injectors regularly.
Dose rate:
To give 0.2 mg moxidectin per kg liveweight:
Cattle: 0.5 mL/25 kg for animals up to 100 kg*
1.0 mL/50 kg for animals over 100 kg
Sheep: 0.1 mL/5 kg

Cattle heavier than 650 kg should be dosed at 1 mL per 50 kg |
Sheep heavier than 80 kg should be dosed at 0.1 mL per 5 kg |
A representative sample of animals should be weighed before treatment to ensure the correct dose rate is used. Dose the mob to the heaviest animal by liveweight in each group (bulls, cows, steers, calves, ewes, wethers, rams, lambs, etc). Do not underdose. Where there is a large variation in size within the group, the dose rate should be based on the label directions for each weight range. Drafting into two or more lines may be appropriate, to avoid excessive overdosing.
*Extra care must be taken to use the correct dose in calves under 100 kg weight, particularly if they are in light body condition, because they may be susceptible to overdosing.
CYDECTIN Injection should not be used in animals that have been vaccinated with footrot vaccine.
