INDICATIONS

For the treatment and control of a broad range of susceptible adult and immature (L4) gastrointestinal nematodes of sheep, including those resistant to macrocyclic lactones (ML), levamisole/morantel (clear), benzimidazoles (white) and closantel based drenches, and combinations of these. For the treatment and control of lungworm, nasal bot and itch mite. Contains: 10 mg/mL derquantel, 1 mg/mL abamectin.

FEATURES

• Derquantel is the first member of the novel family of anthelmintics, the Spiroindoles (SIs), and has a completely unique mode of action compared to all other anthelmintics.
• Formulating derquantel in a combination has the potential to extend the life of this new active by slowing the development of resistance.
• When used as part of a routine drench programme, Startect also extends the useful life of older drenches by cleaning up resistant worms that have survived previous drenches.
• Well tolerated at up to 3x the dose rate.
• Safe to use in lambs, ewes and rams.
• Use from six weeks of age or heavier than 15kg.

Sheep and lambs 1 mL per 5kg by mouth. Retreatment interval 28 days.

It is recommended that Startect be used with the Startect 20 mL ST Drench Gun, as it has silicone O-rings.

Extremely toxic to horses. Do not use in other species.

Meat 14 days; Milk 35 days.

Contents should be used within 24 months after first opening.

• Short meat withholding period (91 days) for a long acting treatment gives flexibility on early weaning lambs to get terminal ewes off farm earlier.
• This means more freedom to maximise earnings when the ewe price is higher, and more control of feed levels on farm.
• New Zealand trial work demonstrated that, on average, treated ewes were 3.2kg heavier and produced lambs that were 2.6kg heavier at weaning compared to untreated animals.¹
